Purpose

The Individual & Organizational Recognitions are designed to recognize individuals and organizations that best promote an entrepreneurial culture in their community and for contributions to Arkansas' economy and society.

The Awards

  • Individual of the Year
  • Organization of the Year

Nomination

Any individual or organization dedicated to the support and expansion of entrepreneurial opportunities within the State of Arkansas may be nominated for the Individual of the Year or the Organization of the Year awards.

Nominations must be submitted to (postmarked or hand delivered no later than March 15, 2002):

A nominee may be submitted for one award category only. Nominations must be professionally bound (i.e. velo, spiral, tape, etc.). No three-ring binders will be accepted.

A complete nomination package will include, in the following order:

  1. A single cover page with:
    1. nominee's full name, title, business and home addresses with telephone and fax numbers and email address;
    2. the award for which the nomination is being made;
    3. the nominator's name, title, place of business, business address with phone and fax numbers and email address;
    4. a one-paragraph description of the nominee's business or the organizational purpose.
  2. An original 8" x 10" or 5" x 7" photo of the nominee
  3. A nomination letter, not exceeding two pages
  4. A brief biography of the nominee, not exceeding two pages
  5. A pro-entrepreneurial profile stating qualities and performance that merit the nominee's award, not exceeding four pages
  6. Any other support documentation deemed significant by the nominator, including newspaper clips, letters of recommendation or other evidence of the appropriateness of the nomination. Support documentation must not exceed ten pages. Videos will not be considered.

Selection Procedures

One entrepreneur and one organization will be selected in each of Arkansas' four Congressional Districts (total of eight awards). A panel of judges representing the four Congressional Districts will review the nomination packages. The eight recipients will be announced at the Awards Luncheon to be held at the Statehouse Convention Center, Little Rock, Arkansas on Tuesday, April 30, 2002.

Selection Criteria

Individuals or organizations that have contributed to a better economic, financial and social climate for entrepreneurs within the State of Arkansas may be nominated. Characteristics may include:

  1. Volunteering time and energy outside of personal duties to assist or create entrepreneurial opportunities
  2. Advocacy for the reduction of regulatory requirements
  3. Support for legislative initiatives that strengthen entrepreneurial opportunities
  4. Participation in other activities that exemplify the nominee's efforts to improve the entrepreneurial climate for Arkansans.
